Classroom 1 Announcements

Welcome to Arborland Montessori and Classroom 1

the 2011-2012 School Year

I appreciate this opportunity to welcome the returning parents, children and make a warm welcome to the new parents and children. I am Ms. Cole and I have been teaching the primary level for 27 years. This will be my tenth year here at Arborland. My assistant is Ms Rokosz. She is an experienced teacher and has been with me for the last eight years.

School starts at 9:00 a.m. please have your child here a few minutes earlier so there will be no interruptions in the class routine. Also, it is very important to have good communication between parent and teacher. You can get a hold of me by e-mail ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or leave a note in my mailbox in the office. If you have any questions about your child’s progress or any concerns, please leave me a message and I will get back to you a.s.a.p. I am also available from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 3:15-4:00 p.m.

Our daily schedule:

9:00 - 11:00       Montessori Session (Practical Life Exercises, Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography, Science & Art)

11:00 - 11:20     Group lesson, news sharing, group singing and story time

12:30 - 2:30       Younger children quiet time

1:00 - 2:45         Montessori Session for older children (Story time, Sensorial,   Language, Math, Geography & Science)

2:45 - 3:00         Circle time, news sharing, music & movement, story reading

               3:00                    Dismissal

Each child will have an assigned cubby for his/her home lunch, papers from the office and any work your child has done for the day. Please check the cubby every day. Your child may or may not have paper work everyday. A good deal of the Montessori materials is done by hands on without work to take home. Be assured your child is always learning. I would like the Kindergarten parents to be aware that we do not give home work. Please also note, that each child is an individual; we do not encourage comparing children’s abilities.

Birthdays are a special time for your child. If you wish to celebrate, please contact me a few days before so we can make the arrangements.

Each child will need to bring a change of clothes, weather appropriate, in a plastic zip lock bag with his/her name on the bag. The younger children who rest need a crib size sheet and a blanket with his/her name on them. Every Friday the bedding will go home to be washed and returned to school the following Monday. Also, please do not send any toys to school with your child.

The school provides snacks, crackers, apples, cheese etc., for your child during the morning class time. If you wish your child to bring a home lunch, please make sure they have healthy foods. No candy. Healthy foods will help your child through the day better.

Thank you for your support on all these issues. Ms Rokosz and I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Sincerely

Ms. Cole
