Ms. Heidi Cole

	I have always had a love for children and the desire to teach. I believe young children are special gifts that should have an environment where they can grow and develop at their own pace and feel good about themselves. Each child is unique in his/her own way. In 1983, I began working as a substitute at a Montessori school and was offered an assistant's job one month later. I was so impressed with the Montessori philosophy that I wanted to be a certified Montessori teacher. I received the Montessori certificate at the Montessori Institute in Garden Grove in 1984. I was interested with the way the children were taught to make choices of their own through the special materials. Through the materials they learned to care for themselves and their environment, control their own movements, and respect their peers.
For the academic part, it is amazing to observe the children taking in knowledge from so many different areas such as language, math, science, art, reading, etc. at such a young age. Young children truly have an innate desire to learn about themselves and their environment. I have been working as a primary teacher for the last 27 years, 8 of those years as a Director, enabling me to create many precious memories with the children. I joined Arborland Montessori Children's Academy in July 2002 and have had a very fulfilling time there.
