Jennifer Mai Lee

Miss Jennifer Mai Lee Jennifer skipped a grade and entered UC Berkeley at age seventeen. She won many awards and volunteered in community services through her high school years. "Arborland provided me with a very good foundation. It taught me to be kind, loving, responsible, and to serve the community with my talent and capability. All the teachers really cared about me. I want to thank Mrs. Chen and Arborland teachers for educating me," said Jennifer. She has laid down the stepping stone for her fellow Arborland Alumni to look up to.

Miss Veronica Chen Hi! My name is Veronica Chen and I was one of the two elementary graduates of Arborland's class of 1996. Some of you may know me as Mrs. Chen's daughter and some of you may know me as Miranda and Eunice's older sister. Others of you might not know me at all. Given that it has been almost six years since I graduated from Arborland, I just wanted to take this opportunity to share some of my awesome high school experiences with you.

Joyce M. Lee
Hello Arborland!  Since graduating from Columbia University, New York, in 2007, I have been working in Operations Management at two different companies.  I was a Supervisor at McMaster-Carr, an industrial supply distributor, before I moved on to my current job as Production Manager at Gilt Groupe.  Gilt Groupe is a luxury lifestyle brand that sells high end fashion, experiences, and travel at discount prices in sample sale fashion.  So even though I majored in Political Science at Columbia, I am doing something completely different now.
College was such an amazing experience for me.  Some notable highlights include my study abroad in Beijing, competing on the Columbia Ballroom Team, and volunteering as an ESL teacher for adults.  Since starting to work in fashion, I have become more interested in fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, and e-commerce.  Of course I also have a continued interest in operations, running organizations, and management.  I intend to apply to business school within the next two years to continue advancing in my education and career.
I remember Arborland because I loved being able to pursue my own interests.  It was so great that I was able to develop a passion for reading and writing.  I am 95% sure there was a point in time where I had read every single book the school had. ...more >>

HI, My name is Donovan Sung:
I am one of the seven valedictorians of my senior class of 500 students at Sunny Hills High School. My GPA is 4.57. My GPA is weighted over 4.0 because I have taken many honors classes. My extracurricular activities are as follows: I am taking tennis lessons on a weekly basis and I made it onto the school tennis team. I started learning piano and kung fu at age 4 at Arborland and I still play the piano and attend kung fu on a regular basis. I also volunteer at St. Jude Hospital 3 hours a week. I am an editor of Accolade, the newspaper of Sunny Hills High School. I also attend Chinese school every Saturday since kindergarten.

My achievements since leaving Arborland are many yet there are still many things I would like to do. In the summer right before 9th, grade I attended a martial arts tournament in China, and won 3 silver medals for long fist, praying mantis, and long weapons. I was also one of the 3 sophomores in the school that made the National Honor Society. I am in the Junior Statesmen of America club along with Model United Nations, American Red Cross and the Math Club. I am also the social commissioner for Model United Nations.

Jonathan Lee (Alumni Graduation Speech at Arborland Montessori Graduation 2010)
Hey everyone!  First of all I want to I want to say thank you to Dr. Chen for giving me this unique opportunity to speak to all of you today. I’m honored to represent the alumni here at Arborland....
...I never really understood the true intentions of this institution called Arborland. It took me until I was a little older to really understand some of the great things about a Montessori education. When I was a student here, I looked forward to recess every day and thinking about whether or not I could become an NBA player.  But when I think back, I think there are two really great lessons I learned here at Arborland. ...
... And I’m confident more than ever that each and every one of you will have the same, if not more, drive than I do to succeed.  It’s not a question of whether or not you will be successful.  The question is WHEN.  Stay focus, stay hungry, stay passionate and never give up on anything you do. ...  more > >

I received Bachelor degrees in Political Science and Dance from UC Irvine in 2010. I graduated Cum Laude in both the School of the Arts and the School of Social Sciences. I was indicted into Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha, and the Golden Key Honors Society. I also received the Order of Merit and was named the Scholar of Distinction by the School of Social Sciences for my work with the UCI Mock Trial team. ...
