Did you know that at Arborland Montessori Children’s Academy, our goal is to nurture our students not only academically but in all aspects as well?
Our students grow into some of the most graceful and courteous people you have ever met. Below are some examples of what they learn through interacting with the people around them. (We went into detail about social development in the primary years in a previous post.)
We start teaching manners in Preschool. Some examples are:
how to greet others
how to ask politely
how to gracefully say “Please”, “Thank you” and “You’re welcome”
At the primary level we teach our students:
how to respond to verbal invitations
to observe proper etiquette with friends (and adults!) in and out of the classroom
At the secondary level we teach our students:
how to show respect to others
how to show good sportsmanship
how to communicate with grace not only face-to-face, but also in the digital world
Of course, the best ways for them to retain the lessons are consistent reinforcement and most importantly, adults modeling the same good behavior they expect from the child.
