Pig & Lamb Have an Adventure

A skit by 4th graders: Ezra R., Clayton K., and James N.

This summer's Session IV theme, Writer's Workshop: Broadway Bound, invited students to step into the roles of playwrights, storytellers, and performers. Throughout the session, they explored the fundamentals of script writing, including character development, dialogue, and plot structure, while bringing their creative ideas to life.

CHARACTERS

Lamb - young adolescent, a bit of a rebel, but kind-hearted

Pig - young adolescent, very excitable

Werewolf - older, 20s, thug-like, and scary

SETTING - Small town, modern day

SCENE I - Town square or downtown area

Lamb: Hey, Pig! Whew! I finally made it!

Pig: Yay! I’m so glad you got here! I had such a tough time getting the other two brothers out of the house. I told them I was going to blow the house down if they didn’t leave me alone for the rest of the afternoon!

Lamb: I get that! I had a tough time escaping Mary’s house to come hang out with you. Oh, by the way, on the way to your house, we need to stop at the butcher's and get a really big bone. I promised Mary’s new guard dog that I would get him one if he let me out and back in again.

Pig: Let’s go! {walking} Here’s the butcher’s shop; I’ll wait for you out here.

Lamb: {goes in, returns with a REALLY big bone} Alright, I’ve got Doggy’s bone. Let’s head to your house. I can’t wait to watch the new episode of Extreme Herding!

{walking…they spot Werewolf hanging out against a building}

Lamb & Pig: {frightened} LOOK, LOOK, LOOK! It’s the big bad WEREWOLF!!!

Wolf: Yes, It’s me! Here to threaten, scare, annoy, and maybe eat all of the annoying little animals in this town. NOW…RUN!!!

Lamb & Pig: {running around the back of the audience} AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Wolf: {chuckles to himself and walks off-stage, following the boys} Maybe I am a little bit hungry after all…A lamb or a pig might just make a good snack.

SCENE II - inside Pig’s house

Pig: Now, here’s our tea.

Lamb: Oooh, and scones, blueberry, my favorite!

Pig: I am so excited for this week’s episode. I really hope Big Guard Dog will manage to herd his silly group of ducks this week.

Lamb: Oh, I don’t know. I’m kind of rooting for Sleepy Eyed Sal to finally get her miniature horses to all go into the barn.

Wolf: {at the door in a fake voice} knock, knock…Postal service with a special delivery…

Pig: {jumps up}...Oh, I’ll get that! It must be the reinforcing lumber my brother bought for his house! {throws open the door without even looking}

Wolf: GULP!

Pig: {faintly from inside Wolf’s stomach} Help, help, help!

Lamb: {coming in from the other room} Hey, Pig, hurry up, the commercial break is almost over!

Wolf: Hahahaha {rubbing stomach} Pig won’t be joining you for your episode this week…but you can join him! {lunges at Lamb}

Lamb: AHHH!!!! {Backs up, groping for something to defend himself with, spots the bone and grabs it} Back off, or I’ll hit you so hard, you’ll wake up in the next town!

Wolf: {sees the bone and starts bouncing up and down like a puppy} Bone! I love bones more than anything! Give me the bone! Bone! Bone! Bone!

Lamb: {surprised, looks at bone, looks at wolf} Ummmm, okay. I’ll give you the bone if you give me Pig back. 

Wolf: Easy peasy! BURP!!! {Pig jumps out from behind Wolf, startled} NOW! Give me that bone!

Lamb: Okay, GO FETCH! {Lamb throws the bone as far offstage as he can}

Pig: I’m alive! Thank you, Lamb!

Lamb: Whew, that was a close one. But now we need a new bone to bribe Guard with when I get home.

Pig: Yeah, maybe we get it DoorDashed so that we don’t have any more punks follow us home and try to eat us!

Lamb: I like that plan. Let’s get it ordered and get started watching our show!

{walk offstage toward the TV room}
